Q: What New Years Blogging or Writing resolution have you placed on yourself?

Well, first of all in 2012 I adopted a friends philosophy about resolutions, you make resolutions when you discover that is what you want to do, not when the new year starts, that way you don't get overwhelmed with all the new goals of the new year and find it easier to know if this is what you really want to commit to.

My Goals

• Promote the new feature If you liked this movie/TV series, read this book. It kick started by Megan The Book Babe  with the hope to reach out of the book lovers circle and if it gets just one person to read a book because of it then I am great full. 

If You Liked The Hunger Games, Read Whispers in Autumn 

• Thank those that have guest posted with an interview in Shelf We Get to Know... where I hope you guys get to know this awesome bloggers and while maybe I am not your flavor when it comes to book reviews direct you to a voice you trust and that gets your book taste.

Feature and Follow : 1 Book for the Whole World

Q: WHAT BOOK DO YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD READ? IF YOU COULD GIFT THE ENTIRE POPULATION WITH ONE BOOK?

Ok, this is though I think I wouldn't. I wouldn't give away just one book to everyone out there, who I usually do gifts is I am giving them to someone I love and I would like for them to enjoy whatever it is they are getting. The gift must call that persons name (figure of speech) and that way I know they are a good match. So if I had to give a book I would like to ask what that person is into then depending on the answer I would search in my limited (compared to 1 book per person of the world) library and pick the one that I fill will give this person some enjoyable reading time.

Feature and Follow: Publishing Industry

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM BOOK BLOGGING THAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW BEFORE ABOUT THE PUBLISHING INDUSTRY?

Mmmm... Well I don't know a lot about the publishing industry other then there are a lot more steps to making a book then I expected, and that authors don't have as much power over things like covers as I once thought  which I find it weird it's light giving birth to a baby and not being able to take some of the important choices like what the baby's name will be.
Another thing I found out is that for as much or little of the publishing industry that I know I respect those that are working in it, those that design the webpages, book covers and book trailers. The authors that write the awesome books we love and care for, their editors that work along side them, and everyone else that works behind the scenes.

I know there is still a lot to learn about the book blogging world and the publishing industry but I am trying to find my way.

Feature and Follow: Last Book That Made You Cry

WHAT IS THE LAST BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY? TELL US ABOUT THE SCENE…

Mmmm... that is a really though one guys, I've been trying all week to remember if any book made me cry in 2012 since I saw it in a list in Epic Reads.

After looking at my goodreads 2012 books I remembered, it was Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood.

SHE MADE ME CRY although I think what describes better this book experience was that the whole book made me extremely emotional it made me angry, giddy, fall in love with Finn Belastra, made my stomach turn and took all my emotions into an extreme roller coaster ride that would be banned in all six flags magic mountain theme parks.

The scene that made me cry is the ending of this book, it's just that not only did this book and I had such a great connection but also Cate the main character in the Cahill Witch Chronicles and everything she felt towards the end of the book hit me so hard I cried while finishing the book and after that I needed a couple of minutes to glue myself back together.

P.S. There where times I just wanted to get into the book and smack Maura until she saw the light.

P.P.S. I am still mad about the change they made to the book cover.

Feature and Follow: Who do you want to be?

Q: Activity! Who do you want to be? If you could choose any character from a book. What do you think that character looks like and what do you have in common?

Ok, it seems that the questions are getting harder and harder each week. Well at this moment I would pick Merit from Chicagoland Vampires, she is smart and keeps on fighting even if the odds are against her, she might be stubborn but most of the times I agree with her and her reasons for doing what she does.

I've always pictured Merit something like Emma Stone

And when in Friday Night Bites Merit gets dressed up by Ethan this is something along the lines of what I think he picked up for her (Sadly right now I don't remember the specific description of what he picked out).

Do you think she fits the Merit profile? and who do you want to be?

Q: Activity! Who is your to-die-for book crush? What do you think they look like? Add an image to make us all happy.

I don't care if you find me un-original or one of the crowd my all time favorite book crush so yummy he is to die for is Mr. Darcy *sigh* and the actor that plays him in the 2005 adaptation of the movie is everything I thought he would be and more, yes I do think that Matthew Macfadyen did a great job specially with all the things he said with his very gentle and expressive eyes.

He may not be the most handsome of the Darcy's but for me he is the one that got him to a T.

 

Yes world I am a Darcy lover, hear me roar!!!!!

Feature and Follow: Turning Movies into Books

Books are turned into movies all the time! Turn it around. What movie would make a great book?

Wow this one is different, I guess maybe something like Limitless, where there is a drug out there that makes you smarter, but there are consequences, and a man struggles for having it all. But after some research it turns out it was based in the 2001 novel named The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn.

Ok lets try this again... Ok, have you heard of the series Hart of Dixie? I think it would do a cute chick flick series, it would be an interesting novel to read, but if they do I hope they don't use a lot of medical terms and is as easily explained as it is in the TV series.

Feature and Follow: Similar Ideas

Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, re-tellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

Well I'm strict when it comes to fanfics that jump into published books, no matter how good they are they need a good revision, an adaptation of the characters, because they are based on someone else's characters and I feel it's kinda hard to really own an idea that was based on someone else and that your characters and story are based 100% on it. 

I do feel its different for re-tellings, re-tellings have an opportunity to loosely based their self's an really own the world that was based maybe in an old fairy tale or story. In my head a re-telling starts being loosely based on the story to the point that the author can take as much liberty with the story as he/she wants.

Similar ideas, how similar? Like when everyone suddenly wants to write about faeries or vampires? well that leaves the authors a large margin of space to play around with it's like comparing Twilight to The Morganville Vampires, the only thing they have in common is that they both have vampires... and that is all they share.
