Synopsis
Meet Val Shapiro, today she turns 18 (well not our today today, or this today but the books today) and she starts her life as an eighteen year old adult the suckyiest way possible, she gets kicked out of her parents home because her mother feels she is a bad influence to her little sister Jen, and if that is not bad enough, she also looses her job at her parents new age bookstore, and why would a parent do that, you ask?well it has a little to do with the fact that Val is an ass-kicking vampire hunter and a one eight succubus lust demon (whom she likes to call Lola), that and the fact that her little sister wants in to be part of Val's ass-kicking life (little sisters sigh).
Now Val must find a way to survive in the world but you see the fact that she was home schooled and has no friends, which means, no place to crash for the night. It all changes when she meets Fang a little scruffy terrier that can take a vampire out, now with a friend on her side she feels stronger and more capable to take charge, and that's a good thing because her town is becoming a sweet little all you can eat buffet for some vampires out there, and it's now up to Val to close this buffet before things get really ugly.
Review
Mr. Parker Blue creates an interesting universe where an "adult" one eight succubus girl comes to slay vampires, but be sure to expect no Buffy the vampire slayer or romantic ideas about vampires, this guys are out to get you.... well not all but still, better safe then sorry right?
I liked this book and the way we get twisted and submerged into the story, and how Val has to deal with a part of her she isn't fond off and how she learns that it's not all bad.Val is a strong character, and with some innocence under all the tough, strong, brave, smart-ass exterior she is somehow innocent and adorable, specially those little Val-Fang dialogs.
Rating: 8 out of 10
