The worlds biggest convention and the nerdiest takes place in San Diego every year since 1970, this convention has been growing and bringing more things for people to see then comics and films, now it showcases videogames, anime, manga, fantasy novels, card games and the list just keeps on growing.
SDCC is one of the highlights of my year, a place I've been going to for around 8 years. It's a place that when you arrive you feel at home, well now it's a really really crowded home, where people are normally nice to one another and no one really cares about your ethnic background, where you are from, sexual orientation or stuff like that, everyone there is here to have fun, I mean come on guys even the trolley dresses up.
This year we where also celebrating the 20th anniversary, a weird tv tradition that has touched several generations of kids and it seems to keep on going. People decided to honor the 20th anniversary with both this huge statue
and I was really happy to see that they where even represented on the streets
Also one of the new things that happened at SDCC was that they held the first live animal exibith, portraying Indiana Jones and the snakes, this photo only has the snakes, cuz well.. snakes are awesome!!!
We also had the typical cosplays like the gosthbusters
And a growing cosplaying trend that I love knows as Steam-punk (dogs now included)
And representing from the Japanese spectrum we have Shizoe from Durarara!!
One of the sides that has really been growing is the book section in comic-con where publishing houses come and showcase their books and author, and its a great place if you want to get into reading and what publishing houses think will be hot.
Some of the publishing houses that graced us with their presence where Random House, Harper Collins, Little Brown, Orbit, Hachette, Penguin, Simon & Schuster and Penguin Teen. In some of this booths they make you feel at home, they answer all your book questions such as Simon & Schuster and Random House. But to whom I really take my hat off is to the Penguin and Penguin teen group, this girls really seem to have a great time every time they come, not only do they answer your questions, do awesome giveaways, they are also do one of my favorite panels to which I look into going every year and most importantly they really seem to love what they do and that is what really ends up pulling people into wanting to read the books they publish.
Here we have some of the girls from the Penguin booth
By the way San Diegans beware I think the people from the walking death might have left something behind...
It is getting harder to get tickets each year so if you ever decide to go be on the look out for when they will be selling the tickets ;)
