In a
time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of
darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the
Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York
Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.
The
year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in
search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the
demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is
attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a
secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a
magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the
British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them...
I'm sadly not a huge fan of these trailers. But frankly you cannot put these books in trailer. They're mind blowing and nothing can bring that experience like the book itself :)
ReplyDeleteI find them fascinating and a great window of opportunity to help "turn" the people that don't usually read books into book lovers.
ReplyDeleteThey are used to ideas being presented to them in the way of a trailer, to show the next blockbuster for the summer or the what they can expect from their favorite series in the fall, so if you present to them the idea in a format that they are now used to and have come to accept isn't it easier to promote other type of media in the same format and expect more acceptance?
That is just me, and honestly some times we do get kind of lazy to read a book blurb and that is when the book trailers come in and save the day for us book lovers :P
Honestly this trailer in particular it a tad bit too scary. I mean in reality this book is not that scary. Especially when you a character like Will who lighten up the whole story. I just don't like it.
ReplyDeleteI do love some trailers - take for example The School for Good and Evil now that's a good trailer.
Sadly that is a problem that we fans have to deal at times, most of the people involved in the marketing of a book do not read it's contents and so we don't get an accurate representation, or sometimes it's the producer how felt the trailer thought should go a certain way and leads the video producer into building inaccurate trailers.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the book but I like the trailer of The School for Good and Evil :)
I've read and love The Mortal Instruments, but I haven't made it to this series yet, even though I'd really like to read them. Thank you for sharing the trailer as it helps me understand what this one is supposed to be about a little more. I am really looking forward to getting to it someday soon. Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteI haven't either but part of me is thinking of skipping The Mortal Instruments (unless Luke makes it worth my while ;) ) and jump right up with the Infernal Devices.
ReplyDeleteGlad to read you liked the trailer :)
I didn't go crazy for City of Bones, but this prequel series sounds much more interesting to me. Probably because of the time period.
ReplyDeleteI also can't pint point it but this seems more interesting then City of Bones, hopefully we will fall in love with this story :)
