Hi guys
welcome to Cover Wars the place where you can covers battle it out for your
affection. Let’s start by taking a look at last week’s winner, last week we had
the Hate List by Jennifer Brown, you guys picked and now here it is!
Thank
you to everyone that took the time to vote and for Alexis from Reflections of a
Bookaholic for commenting.
This
week we have Hold Still by Nina LaCour, for everyone that isn’t familiar with
this book here is a look at the book blurb.
An arresting story about starting over
after a friend’s suicide, from a breakthrough new voice in YA fiction dear
caitlin, there are so many things that i want so badly to tell you but i just
can’t.
Devastating, hopeful, hopeless, playful . .
. in words and illustrations, Ingrid left behind a painful farewell in her
journal for Caitlin.
Now Caitlin is left alone, by loss and by
choice, struggling to find renewed hope in the wake of her best friend’s
suicide. With the help of family and newfound friends, Caitlin will encounter
first love, broaden her horizons, and start to realize that true friendship
didn’t die with Ingrid.
And the journal which once seemed only to
chronicle Ingrid’s descent into depression, becomes the tool by which Caitlin
once again reaches out to all those who loved Ingrid—and Caitlin herself.
Now
then shall we take a look at the covers that are trying to portray this girl
struggle lets take a look at the covers that are trying to give this book a
face.
First
we have the original cover, the one with the girl looking out trying to get
some strength to go one after her confident decided to leave her.
Then we
have the book cover make over, the girl that is trying to make time stop while
the world keeps moving up around her.
So please share with us which cover do you
like best? Who wore it best? Which of this covers would be more attractive for
you to pick out of a shelf? Let us know, be it by voting on the poll or my
favorite by leaving us your thoughts in the comment section!
Wait...I'm a little confused. In the text of the blog the "original cover" is the blue one with her arms outspread and the makeover is the one of the girl alone. They are reversed in the actual poll. I voted for the image I liked even though it was labeled "original cover." Basically, I like the one of the girl in the black shirt sitting against the wall. It looks like there is more angst and emotion in that cover which would make me more likely to read the story.
ReplyDeleteSorry I got the covers right on the poll but I switched them for the blog :(
ReplyDeleteI get it, on the cover with the girl alone you can see some of the angst and how lost she looks.
Thank you commenting and letting me know about the switch :D
