Hello and welcome to Cover Wars where covers battle it out in hopes of knowing which one is the best face for the books you love. Right now we have a winner in our hands that has been trying to scream it to the world so let’s go ahead and reveal the winner for The Scarlet Dagger by Krystle Jones.

Now that we’ve all basked on the winning cover’s glory it is time to move into this week’s contestant Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan, the first book in the The Lynburn Legacy series. For those of you that don’t really recall this book here you have the book blurb darlings:

Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. After reading that creepy blurb it is time to take a look at the covers that are trying to give a face to this story. First up we have the first cover this book ever had, the one that depicts a lot of elements that are shown to us in the blurb yet still finding a way to keep an air of mystery to it, here we have the red cover.

Next up we have the cover that goes more along the lines of a typical romance novel, and that in my opinion shows more a movie teen version of the characters (a.k.a. the people in the cover are obviously not in their teens!!), I present to you guys the yellow cover.

Last but not least we have the black and white cover, the cover that tries to cover the underline of creepiness that we read on the book blurb, but doesn’t carry as much symbolisms that we see in the red cover.

{Cover Wars} Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Another beautiful Wednesday means another edition of Cover Wars!! Are you guys ready to see some covers fight it out for your affection??? Last time we had The Book Thief by Markus Zusak beautiful covers, thanks Kathryn Trask and Ann that commented on this edition and to all of you that voted on the polls.

The Clean Cover!!!

Now that we’ve all got to bask on the winners glory let’s get down to this week’s business, this week we are going to do another book that is hitting the big screen and that most of you have been waiting for, I am talking about Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. I know that most of you know the story but let’s give it a go for those that still haven’t heard of this book.

Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

Now that we are all in the loop boys and girls let’s get the contestants out!!

First up we have the blue cover that is to harbor some of the darkness in the themes that this series holds inside, I present to you the deadly serious cover.

Next up we have a purple cover that seems to take after the deadly cover, only that for me this cover looks more like it has a pigeon front and center instead of a mocking jay don’t you think??

Moving on we have the cover that seems to be more dominant on shelves the red cover, the one that seems to tie in the mocking jay pin that was so important in the first book and brings it up for all of us to see and wonder who it will become relevant in this one.

Last but not least we have the movie tie in version, the one that shows a strong Katniss, one that seems to be able to take on everything that President Snow might throw at her.

The U.S. Cover!!!

Now that we’ve all basked on the glory of the winning cover we can move on to this week’s cover wars, has you all know the Book Thief will be out on theater’s in the U.S. I thought it would be a nice occasion to take a look at the faces this book has had. In case you haven’t heard about The Book Thief before here is the book blurb:

First up ladies and gentlemen we have one of the creepiest covers I’ve seen in a long while, a terrifying dance that evokes all sort of feelings on you (or atleast on me).

Up next we have the most popular cover before this book was turned into a movie, a simple and clean cover that makes itself memorable.

Now we have the newest cover, the one that marketing forces books that are turned into movies to transform into.

It’s Wednesday and you know what that means, it’s time for Cover Wars!! The place where we compare the then and now of covers and sometimes international editions, but we always talk about the same one book that has been given different faces.

Now that the winning cover has had some time of the glory it deserves, let’s move to this week’s book, Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff the first installment of the Lotus Wars series. For those of you that don’t know what this book is about here we have the book blurb:

After taking the time to know a little about Jay Kristoff's Stormdancer we must move to what you guys have been waiting for the faces that have represented Stormdacer.

First off we have the UK cover, one that shows a more traditional Japanese setting for this steampunk book, this book seems more peaceful and not as dangerous as the contents of the book, it’s as if the designer wanted to give a tranquil vibe before diving into action.

Next up we have the US cover, with more aggressive colors and a Yukiko that seems ready for action. This is the type of cover that give the feeling of movement and it hides more behind the strong colors.

Victorian society may not approve cover

Now that we know which cover caught your heart let’s take a look at this week’s contestant, Perdido Street Station by China Miéville and for those of us that need to get acquainted  with the Perdido Street Station here is the book blurb:

New Crobuzon is a squalid city where humans, Re-mades, and arcane races live in perpetual fear of Parliament and its brutal militia. Isaac, a brilliant scientist, is asked by a bird-man Garuda to restore his power of flight. But one lab specimen threatens the whole city. Now that we know at least a bit of what this story hides it is time to take a look at the covers that are claiming the face of this story.

First up we have the glimpse at the city cover, one that tries to paint a version of what this world could be about and the silent vigilante un top of it.

Up next we have the New Crobuzon and the bird-man’s wing that seem to show the place where the action will be taking place and what put this all in motion.

Last but not least we have a cover split in half although the meaning of the two elements that make this cover are more of an interesting blend in which their meaning is more of a mystery for me but conspiracy theories are accepted.

Hi guys and welcome to Cover Wars where covers aren’t afraid to cry for attention. Each week we have a new book title showcasing the different faces it’s had and each week we reveal last week’s winner. Last week we had The Affinity Bridge by George Mann you guys voted and now it’s time to reveal the grand winner.

{Cover Wars} God Save the Queen by Kate Locke

Hi guys and welcome to Cover Wars where covers aren’t afraid to cry for attention. Each week we have a new book title showcasing the different faces it’s had and each week we reveal last week’s winner. Last week we had The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and one of the most famous faces in YA Urban Fantasy, you picked it and here is your winner!!

It seems there is some comfort in the things we see the most, well enough about The Lightning Thief, it’s time to bring to the spotlight this week’s book which will be kicking off Steampunctober which basically means that most of the content on this blog will be trying to showcase some literary steampunk representatives. This week we have God Save the Queen by Kate Locke, for those of you that haven’t heard of this book before here is the book blurb:

First let’s go to the European cover that decided to adapt a different face, one that makes the potential reader feel like there is only Xandra and England to worry about, to care about, one  that says “The sun never rises in the Britain empire” leaving no doubt that vampires are involved.

The second cover is the most used cover, one with a confident looking Xandra, one that contrary to the other cover seems to be ok with being in the middle of the action, even if both covers show confident women I feel this one shows one that is more confident of her abilities other than her looks.

So it seems this week is French v.s. American to decide the best face for a book set in Britain, which of this covers do you feel makes a better connection with the book blurb or if you’ve read it with the book itself? {Cover Wars} The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Hello there unsuspected reader and welcome to cover wars the place where covers try their best to get your attention and for you to pick them as the rightful wearer of the book they represent. But before this week’s contestants come out to do their catwalk let’s take a moment to see the winner of last week’s cover wars, so step right up if you want to see the winner for this dystopian better known as Crewel by Gennifer Albin.

And Cover Make-Over gets the crown!

Now that this cover has had it’s time to shine let’s get into this week’s covers, first of all the book making the covers jump for your attention is The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, now in case the book and the movie went all ninja on you and this is your first time hearing about it here is the book blurb:

Now that we are all in the same page, more or less, we better get started with the covers because let me tell you boys and girls this book has had a lot of faces to show.

Ok, so it was kind of hard to decide with which one to start, but let’s see first the one that was once used as an audio book cover, the one that isn’t afraid to show the mythological monsters that come bumping out.

Next up is the cover of gold, purple and flying shows that tries to intrigue the potential reader with this twist in a well known mythological figure.

After the really cool sneakers we have the first glance at Percy and a cover that shows a little bit more of “book skin” by which I mean it tells you more about the story then the other covers have so far.

It seems that one of the mythological creatures didn’t get enough attention of it’s first appearance that it hunted down the person in charge of the cover art and made this person give him the main stage in this cover.

Bear with me guys we are almost, this next cover is more attached to the movie, the one released in 2010 hitting people from the big screen with a taste of what book lovers already knew was a good story, here we have the charged up cover.

And finally the cover some of you were waiting for the most known cover, the one you are most likely to find in a book store near you or maybe it’s already siting in your bookshelf!

Well now I think we stumbled upon a large amount of cover to a degree that we could call The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan a book with multiple covers disorder. So which of this covers where you most surprised about? Which one did you like the most? Have you had seen all of this covers or where there some new ones for you?

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone that took the time to vote in the polls but especially for those of you that took your time to comment on the cover that you liked best. For this week we move into dystopian territory a book that caused some fuzz last year and that you might know it as Crewel by Gennifer Albin, for those of you that haven’t heard about it here is my book blurb.

Then we have the new cover, the one that doesn’t beat around the bush and is more clear about the type of world Crewel lies, one that even though it's nice to look at gives you the feeling that things can go wrong at any moment, I present to you the cover makeover.

On the right corner we have the original cover, the one showing a woman full of confidence for someone trying to make it on her own for the first time, a cover of grandeur and a one tone color palette.

On the left corner we have the newcomer the one of soft violets, a sense of peace and a feeling of new begginings.

{Cover Wars} Infamous by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Hello guys and welcome to Cover Wars where covers battle it out and ask you which one is the best face for the story they hold inside. I am deeply sorry for my absence last week but I assure you I don’t stop posting Cover Wars just because I get moody, that I can assure you my dearest reader. Two weeks ago we had the Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan a dark future where desires and rules don’t seem to mix very well, you guys have spoken and now it’s time to see your champion! The Forest of Hands and Teeth winner is…..

Looking Through cover

Now that you’ve taken a good look at the cover people found most visually appealing as well as a better face for the story how about we take a look at this week’s contenders? This week we jump into the third book of an Urban Fantasy, YA series. One that I find it to be a really smart transition for new and future readers from this author, shall we take a look at Infamous by Sherrilyn Kenyon the third installment of the Chronicles of Nick?

Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That's the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn't the average teenager. He's a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him. He's learned to raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive and keep a girlfriend so hard?

Now that we all know a little bit about Nick and his world (even if it’s just a teeny tiny bit) lets jump to it and take a look at this week’s contenders.

First we have the cover that follows the “norm” when it comes to the covers of Chronicles of Nick, the one that lets you know “Yeah those are my buddies but I have something unique inside”.

Then we have the cover that is trying to stand out from its fellow covers making us doubt it’s YA roots and yet it strangely enough fits the concept of a Sherrilyn Kenyon (at least it does in my head).
