Synopsis
In 1585 Roanoke Island was witness to one of the biggest mystery's in the U.S.A. 114 people went missing, leaving behind no clue, no goodbye. Now the Lost Colony has become part of the tourist events in Roanoke Island.
We've all heard that history has a way of repeating itself but that never crossed the mind of the inhabitants of the island until one night they find themselves with 114 missing overnight, one death and 2 suspects.
Now it's up to Miranda, the island misfit, to find out what really happened to the missing islanders and to try and find the connection with the Lost Colony, with the help of Philips the guy that years ago gave the last push into Miranda turning into the misfit she is today, but you know what they say beggars can't be choosers and Miranda will take all the help she can get.
Review
When I started reading this book there where some mixed feelings, the book cover and the official synopsis made me crave for it, but then the reviews in goodreads weren't really high, which made me doubt myself, but after starting this book all those doubts where gone and all I cared about was getting to know Miranda and the mystery of the island.
I love Miranda, she grew up as the daughter of the town drunk and a Blackwood which for people in the island is a person that wont even amount to anything, so it is really interesting seeing her and Phillips together trying to find the missing people and seeing her world expand as she gets to know people that want to help her. We don't only see Miranda grow as a person but we also learn how far she will go to save all the people that never cared about her or helped her when she needed it.
The magic, mystery and the mixture between history and fiction make this book a good read, I'm sure you will enjoy getting lost in Roanoke Island and discovering what secrets it's history holds.
